Tony grew up in Wellington and applied to the NZ Met Service there when he left school in 1969. After 3 months basic training he began work recording local weather, and has done so ever since, with periods of in-service training and stints at a few other stations in the NZ region. He has seen enormous changes in technology over his 43 years of service, but the same basic measurements are being made. He still finds the work fascinating – “the weather’s always changing, and the worse it is the more I like it.” Tony has headed Kapiti Weather Consultants since 1995.
