Thin Ice

Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand

Cliff is a geologist whose main interest is interpreting sedimentary processes from strata deposited in marine and glacial environments. His glacial work has largely been in Antarctica on drill core from 17 to 34 million years ago with the Cape Roberts Project, distinguishing strata deposited form grounded ice from ice-rafted debris, and subsequently worked on the ANDRILL core from the last 20 million years. He has also shown how even modern cold-based glaciers in Antarctica today can erode the rock they move over.
